Bespoke Strategic Practice Review

For solicitors going independent, consultant solicitors and law firm owners

A private 90-minute session and a written 90-day action plan, with a lawyer who has built a practice at every stage and at every scale.

Why this is different

Most people advising lawyers on practice strategy have done one thing. I've done all four, and I'm still doing them.

  • 20 years in law, qualified as a solicitor in 2008, specialising in commercial property litigation. Still practising, not someone who used to be a lawyer.

  • A decade in large firms. I know that world from the inside, and why people leave it.

  • Co-owner of a 75-person law firm. I joined as a consultant, bought in and helped scale it from 3 to 75. I know what ownership and growth involve, including the hard decisions.

  • 8 years as an independent consultant, including running my practice from Bali. I know what it takes, and what it costs to get it wrong.

Who it's for

  • Going independent: you're thinking about leaving firm life to become a consultant or freelance solicitor, but have no clear picture of what independent practice looks like day to day.

  • Consultant solicitor: it's working, but not quite right. You want better clients, better pricing and more intention.

  • Solo or small firm owner: you want a senior strategic view on where the practice is going and how to get there faster.

Sound familiar?

  • You're busy, but the work coming in isn't the work you want.

  • You're undercharging and know it.

  • You've never had senior strategic input, and you've been figuring it out alone.

  • You want to make the move but have no roadmap and no one to ask who has done it.

“I went in a little overwhelmed, being new to the legal consultancy world. I left thoroughly inspired. Simone shared the proposed 90 day plan and strategy which was very clear and incredibly helpful.” Victoria Jones, Founder, Polished Influence™

What we cover

Every session is bespoke, with no templates.

  • Your current work, and whether it matches what you want to be known for

  • Your positioning: how clients and referrers see you now

  • Why you attract the clients you do, and how to change that deliberately

  • Pricing: where you're leaving money on the table

  • Your delivery model: where time is leaking

  • A written 90-day action plan built around your practice. Clients tell me it's what they return to most.

“I found the session incredibly insightful. Simone really helped me see the direction I need to take with my business.” Saimah Malik, Principal Solicitor, GWH Solicitors

This is not coaching

There's no twelve-week programme and no homework. You get commercial judgement and pattern recognition from someone who has built, scaled and run legal businesses, and is still practising today.

It's not for you if:

  • you want reassurance rather than honest, direct feedback

  • you're not prepared to rethink how your practice is structured

  • you want legal advice or jurisdiction-specific compliance guidance

“What I got was a realistic financial framework that demystified the whole thing, and concrete next steps I could actually act on. The fog has lifted. For any experienced lawyer who's seriously considering going out on their own but doesn't know where to start, this is it.” LS, Australian-based lawyer

Common questions

I'm outside the UK. Does this work for me? Yes. The review is strategic and commercial, not jurisdiction-specific.

I'm still in a firm. Is it too early? No. It gives you a clear picture before you make any decisions.

Should I be a consultant solicitor or a freelance solicitor? It depends on your practice. A consultant solicitor usually works through an SRA-authorised consultancy firm, which provides the regulatory framework, insurance and systems in return for a share of fees. A freelance solicitor practises on their own account, with more independence but tighter limits on the work they can do. The review helps you work out which model fits you.

What if I don't know what I want yet? That's what the session is built for. Clarity about what's not working is enough to start.

What happens afterwards? You receive your written plan. Most clients implement it independently. Ongoing mentoring is available by invitation.

Is this legal advice? No. It's a strategic review of your practice: positioning, pricing, client acquisition and commercial decisions.

The Independence Readiness Assessment

Are you actually ready to go independent?

Most people ask about the fee split and stop there. That's how you end up surprised, frustrated, or quietly under-earning.
